Measuring our Total Wealth
Total wealth approach is not all that complex. It is a balanced approach with the premise that financial wealth is only part of the equation – it is a means to an end. Spiritual/inner wealth cannot be bought, as it is what is within us: How we think? Where do we put our faith in? Our mental health? It focusses on all these aspects. Also, physical wealth is paramount for total wealth, how we maintain this can largely determine the other aspects of Total Wealth. However, it does not always mean a happy and fulfilled life – how many times have we heard sports stars at peak physical health facing anxiety and depression? Family wealth can often be a helpful driver of the other parts of the total wealth quadrant. Often you can be rich, but poor.
The elements of Total Wealth can be summarised as:
- Spiritual/Inner Wealth – Focuses on mental health, your inner mindset, faith, trust in the unseen, and personal peace.
- Family Wealth – Measures the strength and quality of your relationships, ensuring you do not become “rich, but poor”.
- Physical Wealth – Centers on health, fitness, and lifestyle choices that serve as a foundational pillar for all other forms of wealth.
- Financial/Material Wealth – Treats monetary and asset-based wealth strictly as a practical means to an end rather than the sole measure of a happy life.

Unlike many other approaches limited to warm and fuzzy ideas, Total Wealth Plan gives a clear framework to measure total wealth. It even provides a user-friendly totalwealthcalculator™.
